The objective of the course is to provide a comprehensive introduction to the UPOV system of plant variety protection under the International Convention for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants. The course comprises 11 modules.
Topics to be covered during the conference include: successful independent plant breeding, selection of plants with commercial potential, horticultural biotechnologies, naming plants, plant patents, stock plant hygiene and how to market new plants.
