New DuPont Lumiderm insecticide seed treatment receives PMRA registration in Canada

Mississauga, Ontario, Canada
April 11, 2013

New active ingredient provides superior plant protection

The Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) in Canada has granted approval for registration of DuPont™ Lumiderm™ insecticide seed treatment.

DuPont™ Lumiderm™ insecticide is a new seed treatment product for canola growers. Lumiderm™ contains the active ingredient cyantraniliprole, a novel Group 28, anthranilic diamide insecticide that provides superior control of early season flea beetles (striped and crucifer) and cutworms.

"Lumiderm™ is the first seed treatment that controls both flea beetles and cutworms in canola," says Lisa Power, Lumiderm™ Seed Treatment Manager. "It is an excellent seed treatment advancement, providing growers' peace of mind on their high-valued canola crop during the critical growth period. The canola seedlings respond really well and show exceptional plant health at the early stages of growth due to the reduction of crop stress caused by insects up to 28 - 35 days after planting."

Lumiderm™ has excellent seed safety and is a strong tool for Integrated Pest Management programs. Due to its unique new mode of action, Lumiderm™ gets canola seedlings off to a strong start and creates an opportunity for improved yield by providing powerful residual control throughout the early critical stages of seedling growth.
