Meet Nuseed’s Omega-3 Team - The people behind commercializing a land-based sustainable omega-3 solution

The team at Nuseed have long understood the power of seeds and plants in overcoming the challenges facing our rapidly changing world. They have made it their mission to look for innovations in agriculture and plant technology to support the people and ecosystems impacted by continued global growth.

Here we meet those experienced individuals, at the forefront of providing solutions to one of the world’s biggest challenges – a sustainable source of omega-3, an essential nutrient to human and fish health.
 

Benita-Boettner


Benita Boettner, Nuseed Global General Manager, Omega-3 and member of the Nuseed Steering Team, came to Nuseed with a wealth of experience, including the commercialization of two early stage health care technology companies and P&L responsibility for a $400 million business. She led a cross-functional team delivering significant revenue growth for a major pharmaceutical company.

Prior to her joining Nuseed, Benita was a principal for a business consultancy, responsible for leading development of new markets for clients. She is the former executive director at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and currently serves on the board of directors for the Japan America Society of Chicago. Benita also holds a Master of Business Administration and undergraduate degrees in Finance and Marketing with a minor in Economics.

Benita says, “We have made a commitment to deliver innovative solutions to farmers, nutritious products to consumers, and focus our R&D on addressing unmet global needs.”

 

Dr-June-Lao


Dr. June Yao, Nuseed’s Global Regulatory Lead, is an international agriculture and biotech regulatory expert and leads the biotech regulatory team at Nuseed to get Omega-3 Canola products approved in both production and consumption markets globally.

With over 20 years’ expertise in agriculture and international development, including a doctorate in microbiology, June is fueled by the opportunity to open up the markets for plant traits with consumer benefit and improve global sustainability through innovative solutions.

She’s driven each day to reach regulatory milestones and enable commercial operations, so growers and consumers can benefit from the technology as early as possible.

June says, “I joined Nuseed because we create agricultural products that have very positive, exciting benefits for consumers.”

 

Pablo-Berner


Pablo Berner, Nuseed Aquaculture Lead – Chile, Omega-3, has over 20 years’ experience in a range of roles within the aquaculture industry. This includes leading a fish pharmaceutical company, launching a salmon production startup and directing operations for a crustacean fishing company. He holds two degrees in engineering, including a Master of Science in Aquaculture: Intensive Fish Farming.

His extensive knowledge of salmon farming in Chile and Norway paved the way for his current role, educating farmers and production companies about Nuseed’s Aquaterra® for aquaculture and the relevance of new renewable sources of omega-3.

 

Thomas-Tritt-


Thomas Tritt, Nuseed Director of Nutraceuticals, is driven by the opportunity to bring the world’s first land-based vegetarian total omega-3 product to global nutrition markets and driving sustainable innovation in end-user product formulations.

With over 20 years’ experience in the dietary supplement B2B ingredient space, as well as a BSc in business, specializing in integrated supply chain and operations management, Thomas brings a unique perspective of the players and industry landscape to grow sales, market share and longevity of Nuseed’s Nutriterra®, for the human nutrition market.

 

Clint Munro


Clint Munro, Nuseed Omega-3 Supply Chain Global Lead, has extensive career experience managing commercial operations and trading teams for large-scale oilseed processing, providing the knowledge and network needed to build the Nuseed Omega-3 Value Chain. He leads Nuseed’s efforts to produce and process Nuseed Omega-3 Canola for end-user customers.

His previous experience provides valuable insights into the importance of traceability, stewardship and regulatory protocols.

Clint says, “End-consumers appreciate the health benefits of our products and the environmental benefits. We’re making the world healthier and more sustainable.”

 

Katrina Benedicto
 

Katrina Benedicto has twenty years of experience as in international marketer, with expertise in creating consumer brands emphasizing lifestyles of health and sustainability. She previously led the North American social responsibility strategy for a beverage company and created food security projects in the US and developing countries. Katrina earned her degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz where she studied literature and sustainable food systems.

In her role as Sustainability and Communications Director for Nuseed Nutritional, Katrina leads the brand development and marketing strategies for Aquaterra® and Nutriterra®. She is also responsible for setting the foundation for the team’s global sustainability program.  

Katrina was drawn to Nuseed’s global leadership in progressive agriculture, applying biotechnology to solve environmental challenges. She is excited to bring Nuseed’s Omega-3 Canola to new markets in aquaculture and human nutrition.
