India - NAFED involves cooperative societies in production of certified seeds

National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India Ltd. (NAFED) has started production of certified seeds of Oilseeds, Maize and Pulses under the centrally sponsored Schemes “ISOPOM and NFSM-Pulses” and supplying quality seeds to the States implementing these schemes against the allocation made by the Government.

NAFED is also supplying certified and truthfully labeled seeds of various crops and varieties, saplings and planting materials to the Horticulture and Agriculture Departments of the State Governments in its efforts to ensure that farmers get quality seeds/saplings/planting material at reasonable rates.

NAFED undertakes production of seeds through its member cooperative societies and other categories of producers empanelled with it. In order to maintain complete transparency in its seed production programmes and marketing of seed, NAFED has formulated seed production and marketing guidelines, which have been displayed on its website.
