Dow AgroSciences expands with new seed research site in Minnesota - Capabilities in corn and soybeans being built for seeds business

Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
December 15, 2010

Dow AgroSciences has announced the construction of a new Seeds Research and Development expansion in Olivia, Minnesota. Research on corn and soybeans will be conducted at the site for Mycogen Seeds and other Dow AgroSciences seed affiliates. The 11 acre site, approximately 90 miles west of Minneapolis, will have an office and seed processing building and an equipment storage and shop building. Olivia is also home to a Dow AgroSciences Customer Service and Seeds Operations site.

"The construction progress at Olivia symbolizes Dow AgroSciences getting one step closer to achieving its goals for its Seeds, Traits and Oils business," said Jeff Posch, Dow AgroSciences northern regional breeding leader. "The Olivia community is a great location in which to live and work, and Dow AgroSciences is looking forward to a great deal of productive research at this station."

The groundbreaking on the site took place in October 2010, and construction on the Olivia site is scheduled to be completed in mid-year 2011. The company’s plans call for approximately 25 full time employees at the site by 2015. The research site is part of Dow AgroSciences’ long-term plan to increase its seed and biotechnology capabilities.
