In 2021, GEVES conducted 18% of the plant variety tests (DUS) which formed the basis for an EU plant variety right decision, issued by the CPVO (Community Plant Variety Office). GEVES met with the CPVO on 2 February 2022 for an annual bilateral meeting. We looked back at our joint activities in 2021 and discussed interesting & challenging issues that we have in common: DUS evaluation of apple mutants, late frost control in fruit DUS trials, promotion of the plant variety protection system at joint events, etc.

GEVES is very pleased to continue this collaboration in 2022, in particular with the organisation of a seminar on 28 April 2022 by the CPVO with the participation of GEVES. This seminar, which has been labelled as part of the actions carried out under the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU), is entitled "Plant Variety Protection: the path towards more sustainability, innovation and growth in the European Union".
