Precision Planting is dedicated to finding solutions to planting and seed placement issues that challenge the agricultural industry and production farming. Our Research Grant Program offers incentives to parties doing independent research on seed environment and placement practices. Interested parties can submit an application outlining their project goals and objectives as well as their desire for assistance from Precision Planting.
Any research that studies the direct correlation of seed placement or the impact of planting practices on the seedling environment to yield or yield response will be considered. The application should include an outline of the study to be conducted, people/parties involved, process for collecting data and evaluation criteria of the collected data. In 2010, Precision Planting funded five projects. These trials looked at variable rate seeding populations in corn, effect of down force on multiple crops and meter performance.
Precision Planting will award project funding in increments of $1,000 up to $10,000 per project based on available funds. Funding will be provided based on the research being performed as outlined in the application. Half of the funding will be furnished upon the awarding of the grant and half at the completion of the study.
Applications and instructions are available online at www.precisionplanting.com, and will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Application Deadline for 2011 projects is March 25, 2011. Applications can be sent to: Precision Planting, Research Grant Program, 23207 Townline Road, Tremont, IL 61568. Inquiries on the program can be directed to Dustin Blunier at 309-925-5050 or dustin.blunier@precisionplanting.com.
