LCS varieties had a bumper crop this year, as evidenced by a slate of National Wheat Yield Contest wins in dryland winter and spring wheat.

Dick Judah of Carlton, Oregon landed the dryland winter wheat Bin Buster award with 173.77 bushels per acre (bu/ac) of LCS Shine. Judah was also the 1st place winner in the state of Oregon. Following close behind was fellow Carlton grower Derek Berger, who was the National 1st place and Oregon 2nd place dryland winter wheat winner with his 171.58 bu/ac LCS Shine entry.

The LCS Helix AX growers of Keenesburg, Colorado scored a similar sweep in the dryland winter wheat increase category. Marc Arnusch earned both National and Colorado 1st place with a 330.5% increase over county average, barely edging out his son Brett Arnusch who nabbed National and Colorado 2nd place with a 330.3% increase. Casey Cantwell came in 4th place nationally and 3rd place in Colorado with a 229% increase.
