Valent U.S.A. LLC today announced John Smith as vice president, Sales, effective July 22, 2024.

Smith joins Valent U.S.A. from Winfield United, the agriculture inputs subsidiary of Land O’ Lakes, where he served as director, Strategic Supplier  Alliances and Procurement.  He joined Winfield United in 2020 after a 32-year career at Bayer Crop Science, where he held various domestic and international positions in sales, marketing, and commercial leadership roles.

Smith will lead the sales team and direct the sales process for Valent’s products and services across North America.  He will also serve as Valent’s executive lead to the customer channel, and support the global initiatives of Valent’s parent company, Sumitomo Chemical.

Smith earned a Bachelor of Science degree in agronomy and agriculture business from the University of Missouri. He also earned his certification as a California Pest Control Advisor and has been involved on several key industry boards, including the National FFA Sponsors Board, Western Plant Health Association, and United Fresh Produce Association.
