Happening Tuesday, July 22: Webinar Series on Farmers’ and Breeders’ Rights in India

July 21, 2025

The Asia and Pacific Seed Alliance (APSA), in collaboration with SeedNL, invites you to the first session in a three-part webinar series examining the complementarity of Farmers’ Rights and Plant Breeders’ Rights across Asia.

While often perceived as conflicting, these rights can be mutually reinforcing—when national policies and legal frameworks are designed to recognize the distinct yet interconnected roles of farmers and plant breeders. This series seeks to facilitate a nuanced, evidence-based dialogue on how such complementarity is achieved or hindered in diverse agricultural systems.

The first session will focus on India, bringing together leading experts and practitioners to share their perspectives.

Date: Tuesday, July 22, 2025
Time: 12:30–14:00 IST / 09:00–10:30 CEST

Speakers include:

  • Dr Dinesh Kumar Agarwal, Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmers Rights Authority
  • Dr Malavika Dadlani, Scholar and Independent Consultant
  • Dr Paresh Verma, Shriram Bioseed Genetics (A Division of DCM Shriram Ltd)
  • Mr Himanshu Bais, Solidaridad Network

We encourage all seed professionals and stakeholders to join this timely and important discussion.
