Sharpen your seed health testing skills this October by attending the Seed Health Testing Workshop, sponsored by the National Seed Health System (NSHS) and the Online Graduate Program in Seed Technology and Business.
Who should attend?
This workshop is designed for early-career seed lab technicians who are actively involved in testing. Attendees will gain hands-on laboratory training with the support of expert staff.
Whether you’re new to the field or looking to strengthen your skills for work in, this course will help you build confidence and technical expertise.
What tests are covered?
This year's seed health tests include the following methods:
1. NSHS method Be 4.3 – Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens flaccumfaciens on beans
2. NSHS method Mz 1.1 – Stenocarpella maydis on maize
3. NSHS method So 7.1 – Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) on tomato and pepper
These methods will provide attendees with experience in selective media plating with convential PCR confirmation test and pathogenicity testing, culture plating, and reverse transcription quantitative PCR.
