Glória Pinto, a researcher at the Centre for Environmental and Marine Studies and the Department of Biology of UAveiro, has been appointed national delegate to the Management Committee of COST Action CA24152 - EPICROPS (Epitranscriptomics and ncRNAs for climate change-resilient and sustainable crops), a European scientific reference network that brings together experts in the molecular area with a view to developing more sustainable agricultural crops adapted to climate change.

With recognized experience in plant physiology and in assessing plant performance under different environmental conditions, Glória Pinto will help ensure that the scientific and strategic decisions of the EPICROPS Action are validated by multidisciplinary and complementary teams, linking molecular responses to the phenotypic and functional characteristics of plants.
Her participation strengthens Portugal's scientific capacity in emerging areas such as epigenetic and post-transcriptional regulation in plants, which are key to understanding the molecular mechanisms of stress response, developing innovative plant breeding strategies and supporting the construction of more resilient and productive agricultural systems.
The EPICROPS Action will start in October 2025 and run until 2029, under the European COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) program, promoting collaboration between researchers from more than 30 countries, through scientific meetings, specialized training and international mobility of researchers.
