Angello mini peperone snack senza semi
No slicing. No waste. Just grab and go.
In today's fast-moving world where convenience meets healthy eating, Syngenta's Angello peppers have transformed the snacking experience.
Often called two-bite peppers, these innovative vegetables are ideal for lunchboxes, on-the-go snacks, or adding to salads.
But what makes these peppers so special is their seedless* nature, unlike traditional peppers which require deseeding.
"You can eat the whole thing, no pulling out seeds, just break off the stem and take a bite,” says Elisa Iniesto, Trait Development Lead Vegetables at Syngenta. “They’re not only convenient, but also delicious, often outperforming competitor varieties in taste panels. Plus, like most peppers, they’re naturally high in vitamin C, so you’re getting flavor and nutrition in one bite.”
Looking back at the development of Angello, one element really stands out. While many seedless pepper varieties are grown from cuttings, Angello is produced from seed, making it easier for growers to maintain quality and consistency. This breakthrough earned Angello the prestigious Fruit Logistica Innovation Award (FLIA) in 2012, recognizing its unique consumer experience and breeding achievement.
According to industry research, the global seedless pepper market is projected to grow 7 percent by 2033, driven by increasing demand for healthy, convenient, and waste-free vegetables. Syngenta was at the forefront of innovation years ago in anticipation of the changing preferences of consumers for convenient, healthy, on-the-go snacking options.
Everything about Angello peppers is designed to be minimal fuss. There’s nothing to prep or throw away, and its compact size makes it easy to carry in a lunchbox or store in the fridge. With no mess and no leftover bits, the peppers are practical and portable.
Today, breeders are continuing to innovate. “We’re continuing to develop new varieties that are even tastier and more convenient for consumers,” Iniesto adds.
Responding to evolving grower and consumer needs, Syngenta continues to expand its seedless pepper portfolio. Three varieties are currently available. The Angello red variety 'Angelito', the Angello yellow variety 'Angelloro', and the newer orange variety 'Navelito', first introduced at Fruit Logistica 2020.
All have the signature cone-like Sweet Pepper shape, while featuring better resistance to increasing pests and disease threats, and maintaining consumer appeal.
Using cutting-edge scientific expertise, Syngenta’s breeders ensure key traits, such as pest and disease resistance, are prioritized in the development of new varieties. But that work doesn’t need to come at the expense of taste, freshness or consumer appeal. By combining innovative scientific traits that support crops to thrive in challenging conditions, with a consumer-first taste experience, Syngenta is transforming snacking - one bite at a time.
