Limagrain UK has taken a bold step forward in supporting British farmers with the launch of two dedicated demonstration farms. Located at Atkin Farms in Uttoxeter (West) and Dennington Hall Farms in Suffolk (East), these sites will serve as real-world platforms to showcase Limagrain’s integrated crop solutions and cutting-edge breeding innovations.
Why Demo Farms?
Modern farming demands more than high yields; it requires resilience, profitability, and environmental stewardship. Limagrain’s demo farms will demonstrate how strategic rotations and tailored genetics can reduce inputs, improve soil health, and deliver consistent performance. By putting varieties to the test in real farm scenarios, Limagrain aims to provide practical insights that go beyond trial plots. Liam Wilkinson, Head of Technical for Limagrain UK, said: “The LG Demo farms, as part of the LG Legends project, give us the opportunity to look at our varieties not just in isolation, but as part of a real-world farming system, whether it’s a wheat variety following maize, or it’s barley before oilseed rape.”
Innovation at the Core
Every variety showcased has been developed through Limagrain’s UK-based breeding programme, ensuring suitability for local conditions. From disease resistance and drought tolerance to flexible drilling windows, these genetics are designed to meet the evolving needs of farmers and the supply chain.
Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
The success of this initiative relies on partnership. Limagrain is working closely with leading agronomy and industry organisations. Together, they will deliver technical expertise and share best practice, reinforcing Limagrain’s commitment to farmer-focused solutions.
Ryan McCormack, Farm Manager for Dennington Hall Farms, said: “We’re very proud to be working with Limagrain and feeding into their breeding programme. As we transition to a regenerative farming system at Dennington, it’s refreshing to work with a breeder who is focused on the present and future needs of farming and the supply chain.”
Rob Atkin, Farmer at Atkin Farms, said: “Being part of the LG Legends means we can work together to mitigate some of the risks we face as farmers. What I mean by that is we can work with LG varieties and their breeders to improve profitability and understand the best management practices for an arable and mixed farm situation.”
Looking Ahead
The demo farms will host open days in summer 2026, offering growers the chance to walk the crops, discuss management decisions, and see performance data first-hand. In the meantime, progress will be shared through Gatepost, social media updates, and video content, bringing the journey from drilling to harvest to life.
By partnering with these farms, Limagrain is not just showcasing varieties, it is shaping the future of sustainable farming. Through collaboration, innovation, and transparency, these sites will help farmers grow stronger, today and for seasons to come.
