Syngenta Flowers and Gam Bakker extend partnership with five-year contract

April 28, 2026

In early March, Syngenta Flowers and transport company Gam Bakker signed a new five-year contract for transporting young plants from De Lier. On 24 April, the agreement was officially sealed with a handshake. This new deal reaffirms a collaboration that has spanned more than two decades.

A partnership with history
Gam Bakker, founded in 1929, has been around for almost a century and has established a strong position in international transport and logistics during that time. The cooperation with Syngenta Flowers started in 2002, which means that both parties have been working together for over 20 years now.

Gam Bakker transports young plants to the United Kingdom, Ireland and France (via distributor Ducrettet) for Syngenta Flowers. This targeted focus on specific regions is a deliberate strategy that both parties have refined over the years to ensure maximum efficiency.

Smooth customs processing after Brexit
Since Brexit, customs processing towards the United Kingdom and Ireland has become considerably more complex. Gam Bakker has taken on the full responsibility of customs processing. By managing these intricate requirements, they provide Syngenta Flowers with a seamless logistics chain that maintains continuity despite challenging international trade laws.

Recognizable on the road
Five trailers featuring vibrant Syngenta Flowers branding are currently operating on international routes. This branding serves as a symbol of the intense collaboration required to succeed in a demanding industry

Stronger together in a challenging industry
Logistics is much more than just delivering products or a cost. A strong logistics chain determines product quality, customer experience and ultimately the future of the organization. Gam Bakker has been a very reliable partner in this for years. In an environment where fuel prices fluctuate and customer expectations continue to rise, Syngenta Flowers views this partnership as a way to ensure product quality and superior customer experience.

Frank van der Zande, Head of Operations EMEA for Syngenta Flowers: “We are pleased to have closed a multi-year deal with a partner that we have been building on for many years. This partnership gives us the space to work on improvements in sustainability and efficiency.”

Gerjo Pater from Gam Bakker: “At Gam Bakker, building sustainable partnerships with clients is key. By continuously putting ourselves in the shoes of the customer, their entire logistical process and the product, we can optimally respond to their needs. The multi-year contract with Syngenta Flowers underlines our strong partnership and mutual trust that we have built over the past few years.”
