Mosaic Biosciences and Elicit Plant today announced the signing of a joint development agreement to identify and develop a new solution for canola (oilseed rape) across North America. Leveraging Elicit Plant's proprietary EliTerra® technology platform, the program aims to identify and develop a new solution designed to help canola growers preserve yield potential under water-stress conditions.
With nearly 22 million acres planted in Canada, significant production areas across the northern United States and annual output ranging from 17 to 19 million metric tons depending on the season, canola is Canada’s most widely grown oilseed crop and a strategic agricultural commodity. As climate variability increases and water-stress events become more frequent, growers face mounting pressure to maintain productivity and protect yields.

The agreement combines Mosaic Biosciences’ focus on crop resilience and grower value with Elicit Plant’s expertise in helping crops manage water stress through its EliTerra® technology platform. The collaboration reflects both companies’ commitment to science-based innovation, field validation, and the development of solutions that address real agronomic challenges.

As part of the program, Elicit Plant and Mosaic will conduct an extensive agronomic evaluation program across key North American canola production regions. Through this evaluation program, Mosaic Biosciences and Elicit Plant aim to advance a canola solution that is field-validated, practical for growers, and capable of helping protect yield potential under water-stress conditions.
