Bio-safety regulatory body of Pakistan considers giving access to fFarmers to biotech corn varieties

The bio-safety regulatory body of Pakistan is considering to giving the biotech corn access to the farmers after the successful completion of the field trial studies. The trials were closely monitored by the Government technical committees.
GM Corn is a crop being planted on millions of hectares in the world. Many countries of the world including USA, Brazil, Argentina, Canada, South Africa, Philippines, Spain, Poland Egypt, Czech Republic ,etc are planting biotech maize and successfully increase their crop productivity.
Pakistan is a country where population is expected to over 227 million by 2050 this number of people need a tremendous amount of food that can only be overcomed by using GM crops.
As in Pakistan, farmers in many other countries produce white corn for food consumption and as raw material for both processed foods and industrial products. Yellow corn, on the other hand, is used both as food and as a major feed ingredient for the livestock and poultry sub-sectors.
