Precision Laboratories announced a new product to coat seed, PhosForce, to help growers produce a better cereal crop by utilizing unused phosphorous in the soil.
“Yield data has shown a seven percent advantage of PhosForce treated seed in medium to high production environments over untreated seed,” said Terry Culp, vice president of Seed Enhancements and Nutrients for Precision Laboratories.
Precision Laboratories also has research to show that PhosForce works in a variety of soil conditions to consistently increase – on average 25 percent – root mass for improved nutrient uptake. Additionally, research indicates an eight percent increase in plant tillering.
Previously sold under the Enrich product name, PhosForce is a specific strain of Pseudomonas that has a significant need for phosphorous, causing it to produce an organic acid to solubilize inorganic phosphate and generate an enzyme to enhance organic phosphate availability. As a result, a sub-soil environment is created that produces increased levels of phosphorous in the soil solution available for plant utilization.
“PhosForce employs a biological solution to the challenge growers face to generate the maximum return from soil applied phosphate fertilizer, and to get full utilization of organic phosphate from plant residues.
