Phenospex participates in the project High Tech Greenhouse 2020

For the future of horticulture Phenospex involved with advanced sensor technology

The High Tech Greenhouse 2020 addresses the major future food production challenges like urbanization, scarce space, scarcity of resources like fossil fuels, water, minerals, and the increasing consumer demands in terms of functionality and quality of products. The High Tech Greenhouse 2020 incorporates the following features: Integrated production management. Increased energy efficiency. Use of renewable energy sources. CO2 utilization from biogas. Closed water system. Controlled growing conditions with sensor techniques. The project not only sets ambitious targets on energy and water usage but also provides production techniques and methods that increase social acceptance and international competitiveness. On top it should distinguish by excellent taste and consumer confidence in greenhouse food products. The collaboration will improve the innovative strength and competitiveness of the participants and encourage innovation investments. The project horizon is 2020 and the project partners defined a research project from October 2011 to July 2014.

The techniques will be tested and validated in experimental full-scale greenhouses in the region of ‘Sunny Tom Tomatoes’, ‘Kleve’ and ‘Georg Hanka Gartenbau’. The project results will be disseminated at the Floriade during so called ‘High Tech Greenhouse Workshops’.
