Philip Smits announced his intention to step down as general manager of The Greenery during the Members' Council Meeting held this afternoon with the Executive Board of Coöperatie Coforta UA and the general management of The Greenery BV. The Executive Board, Supervisory Board and the management of The Greenery and Coöperatie Coforta respect Mr Smits' decision.

Albert Knol will assume responsibility for the day-to-day management of the group and itscore business in the interim. As requested by the Executive Board and the management, Philip Smits will continue his work on a number of external supervisory boards, including those of EPS and Inova.

Philip Smits has been affiliated with The Greenery since 2006, a period in which The Greenery implemented a successful retail strategy and continued the professionalisation of the organisation.

The Greenery's strategy, which focuses on turnover growth, improved profits and operational excellence, will be continued unabated.
