NorthStar Genetics expands in Manitoba and Saskatchewan

NorthStar Genetics, Minnesota’s largest independently owned seed company, today makes several announcements concerning its Canadian business.
According to Dan Hogstad, CEO of NorthStar, “the growth of our Canadian business has allowed us to re-invest in areas designed to continue our marketshare lead in Manitoba, and to further our business activities going west.”
“Our initial investment was to open a sales and service office in Winnipeg, at 3493 Pembina Highway in St. Norbert,” said Hogstad. “Kim Perfumo has been hired to manage that office, and has helped coordinate our sales activities.”
Brian Elliot, Brandon, Manitoba, has recently been added as a District Sales Manager for western Manitoba and Saskatchewan. “Brian’s well-known agronomic background is highly valuable as soybeans move west, and we promote sound practices to make growing soybeans a profitable venture,” said Ray Wytinck, General Manager of NorthStar’s Canadian business.
“We also want to announce that Harry Davies has been hired as a District Sales Manager/Production Manager for Manitoba,” said Wytinck. “As the Manitoba market matures, and soybeans become a regular part of the crop rotation, we need to focus on the Red River Valley, and to increase our presence in eastern Manitoba.”
“Ray Wytinck has done a remarkable job in managing this growing business, and we are pleased to support his efforts. Not only are we increasing the number of our professional employees, we’ve added another plot combine, and will continue to invest in finding and promoting the earliest maturing soybeans in Western Canada,” said Hogstad.
