Though this year’s harvest was filled with twists and turns, farmers who planted Stone Seed should have a lot to smile about. When the F.I.R.S.T. and University of Illinois trials came out last month, Stone Seed Group products ranked up at the top in almost every grouping.
“Our Production Manager, Brian Taylor, has come through for us again,” states Andy Stone, third generation company leader. “Our message is ‘we know Illinois,’ and these great results reinforce that message.”
Popular YieldGard VT Triple® corn brands, T-6N52 (110 RM) and 6T688 (108 RM) led the University of Illinois North Region with 246 and 245 bushels per acre, respectively. T-6N52 brand also won the F.I.R.S.T. Full Season North Region trial with 229.8 bushels per acre. When asked why these brands did so well in Northern Illinois, Taylor commented, “Elite genetics make the difference. And the yields are protected by the traits.”
In East Central Illinois, Stone’s YieldGard VT Triple brands 8T468 and T-6N52 took first and fifth, respectively, in the University of Illinois Regional Trial with 241 and 236 bushels per acre. 8T468 brand also showed well in the West Central U of I trial in Monmouth, taking second, and in the F.I.R.S.T. West Central Full Season Trial in Galva, taking first. Stone Seed Salesman and Communications Director, Jacob Winans notes that “8T468 has been a popular entrant on stoneseed.com’s Yield Focus, where customers are invited to post their highest corn and soybean yields.”
In the South Region, Stone’s T-8N52 YGVT3 brand won the University of Illinois Elkville trial.
Stone adds, “We’re also quite proud of our refuge numbers. Our 7R761 brand took first in the Soy Capital Refuge Corn Test in Lexington and Normal; and our 7R770 brand was second in Minonk.”
“It was a great year,” says Taylor, “We’re hoping to see what these genetic and trait packages can do under more desirable planting and harvesting situations!”
