Pakistan - Ayub Agriculture Research Institute pioneers new BT cotton variety

Director General of Ayub Agriculture Research Institute (AARI) Dr Abid Mahmood, while giving an interview to The Express Tribune said adoption of recent technology can enhance yield and growers can earn handsome profits.

He revealed that AARI recently introduced a new variety of BT cotton, MH-486, to achieve maximum yield. Dr Mahmood added: "There are few farmers in Pakistan who are using modern techniques, right from pesticides to fertilisers and are getting 70 maunds per acre,? elaborating further he said AARI introduced 444 seeds of different crops, in order to develop the agriculture region, to attain the needs of farmers and, subsequently, helping improve their lifestyle."
