11th ISBGMO: Highlighting new developments in biosafety research on GMOs

January 29, 2010

The International Society for Biosafety Research has announced its 11th International Symposium on the Biosafety of GMOs.

The theme of the symposium is “The role of biosafety research in the decision making process”.
15 - 20 November 2010
Centro Cultural Borges - Buenos Aires, Argentina

This symposium will bring together experts interested in sharing results and in learning from other experts in the area of biosafety research. Presentations and discussions will focus on how biosafety research supports regulatory processes, especially risk assessments and risk management as well as on the interactions between scientific information and regulation of GMOs.

The symposium will also focus in particular on crop species used for industrial purposes and energy production (biofuels), as well as on developments in GM insects, on crops with improved tolerance to abiotic stress and on new biotechnology-related techniques like RNAi, synthetic genes and potential applications of “omics” technologies to risk assessment.
