Pakistan - Breakthrough in research on bio-saline agriculture

On Sunday, 16th November 2014 Former minister and President Pakistan Academy of Sciences Prof Dr Atta-ur-Rahman (Chief Patron, ICCBS) while delivering an online lecture titled, "The Thrilling World of Discovery" at the University of Karachi, revealed that Pakistani scientists are performing effectively in the field of bio-saline agriculture to grow wheat, maize, rice and other crops by using seawater.

"The scientists at the International Center of Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS) were working day and night on various fronts while research on bio-saline agriculture was a part of these efforts" said the leading scientist Dr. Atta while appreciating their efforts.

By illuminating the phenomenon that the knowledge has become the main driving force for the world economies, Dr. Atta advised the Pakistani scientists that Pakistan needs to follow the footprints of developed countries in term of achieving advancement on the economic front.
