USA - Syngenta 2017 #RootedinAg contest finalists announced

USA
July 18, 2017

  • Finalists chosen based on quality of essays and visuals honoring the person who helped nurture their agricultural roots
  • Five finalists will receive mini touch-screen tablets
  • Online voting will help determine the grand prizewinner, who will receive $500 gift card and $1,000 donation to deserving local charity

Syngenta has announced the five finalists in its #RootedinAg contest. These finalists, who will each receive a mini touch-screen tablet, will now compete for the grand prize – a $500 gift card, plus a $1,000 donation to the winner’s favorite local charity or civic organization.

The competition, which began in April, invited growers and other ag professionals to describe how someone in their lives has helped them establish their agricultural roots and thrive. Syngenta will feature the winning story in an upcoming issue of its Thrive magazine.

“So many people positively impact the direction we take in life,” said Wendell Calhoun, Syngenta communications manager. “At Syngenta, we wanted to honor those mentors who have helped shape the great men and women of agriculture. Our #RootedinAg contest gives us a chance to do just that, and we are so grateful to everyone who shared their inspiring stories with us.”

The 2017 finalists are:

  • Thomas Luke Andrews from Boyle, Mississippi
  • Lauren Grimes from Tifton, Georgia
  • Steve Groves from Bakersfield, California
  • Tori Streitmatter from Sparland, Illinois
  • Nicole Swinson from Kenansville, North Carolina

Syngenta has posted all five winning entries to the Thrive website. Online voting, along with the judges’ scores, will determine the grand prizewinner. Voting ends Sept. 15, 2017, with Syngenta announcing the winner in October.
